New Teachers Mrs. Gagnon nd Mrs. Zagoya

Welcome CVES Teacher Mrs. Gagnon (pictured left) and CVMS Teacher Mrs. Zagoa (right)!

We are excited to have these new faculty members join our CVUSD team this year.  Get to know them a little here:

Mrs. Gagnon said," Many kids around campus know me as Ms. G."

 ·        What subject and grade(s) do you teach?

I am teaching 4th grade language arts, writing and science. When I was in 4th grade, my teacher Mrs. Shaffer showed me a cell under a microscope. That's when I found out how much I loved science! It changed my life, and I hope to pass that excitement for learning onto the kids in this community. I am also a hobby nature writer. I've published articles in magazines like Wildlife Views, and I've received environmental writing grants in the past. I am so excited to teach 4th grade students about the subjects I am passionate about!

·        What brought you to CVUSD?

My family has lived in Camp Verde for a  long time. We love the Verde Valley, and I care about the kids and families in this community.

·        What are you most looking forward to this school year?

I am looking forward to building positive relationships with the students and their families. I know we will learn some really fun stuff this year!

Mrs. Zagoya can be addressed as Mrs. Zagoya, Mrs. Z, or Coach Anna

We asked her the following questions:

What subject and grade(s) do you teach?

I'll be teaching 8th grade History. I fell in love with History when I went to school. I'm majoring in History right now for my bachelor's degree. I am constantly reading something about history because I want to know everything about what has happened to get us to where we are today.

·        What brought you to CVUSD?

Both of my kids go to school here. My son is starting his freshmen year and my daughter is going into her last year at the elementary school. This will be my first year teaching but I have been a coach for 7 years now. I love helping other people and love teaching kids.  I have been part of the SAC committee at the middle school for 3 years now. Within those meetings, I have formed great connections with the staff that attended. They were always transparent with the areas of opportunity within the school and really listened to what I had to say to offer solutions. I felt like part of the family before even being a teacher here. That's exactly what I was looking for to start a new career. That's the environment I wanted to be part of and to be able to share with others.

·        What are you most looking forward to this school year?

Inspiring the students to live up to their full potential and to just be kind humans.
